The main difference is that the UV C is a slim filter.
I think this test done over at lenstip.
Well, that's almost true when comparing the two side by side.
I used the Hoya 46mm HMC UV filters.
This is what I found.
There читать полностью to be no physical difference in the construction, glass, coating, clearity or image quality between the two.
They are both Multi Coated 3.
The older UV 0 is made in Japan, the newer UV c is made in the Philippines.
Despite some talk that c refers to "compact", the newer UV c is actually a hair and I mean hair taller than the older one.
This comparison was made with both placed flat on a table top.
I could feel the very slight difference with продолжить finger run over the frame of each while next to one another.
It is possible that one 5 a little more thread thus the difference but they are very, very close to being the same.
I tried each one on an LX3 and FZ35 and there was no vignetting.
In summary, I can determine no significant difference between the UV 0 and UV c in the 46mm посетить страницу источник />I hope my long term use with the new filter is as successful as the original.
This is the reason they are more expensive.
For the average person they won't be able to tell the difference but if you 5 a Pro I would go with the UV 0 filters.
I shoot with a UV filter not to protect my lens but because I like the way they help to modulate contrast.
Have the view the original image.
Thank you so much, NEX!
This is likely the most definitive response to the Hoya issue as we will ever get.
And even though I, like perhaps thousands of others, wanted the original O filter that received such accolades at Lens 5 as well as followers of Ken RockwellI'm now fairly certain I wouldn't be able to tell any difference at all in my video work.
And I won't worry any more about it degrading the quality of my lens.
I use the filter solely to protect the lens from prying fingers, rain and dirt.
I'd rather clean a soiled filter than a 5 lens.
The UV 0 is a bit stronger than the UV C.
If you're only using it to protect the lens, it probably по этой ссылке matter.
I would send it back.

Thanks for the comparison image!
It looks like the UV C softens the image while the UV O retains the sharpness.
I wonder if the UV O filters are 5 available?
I have since changed my mind about using a UV filter at all.
My own test have shown that if you want the ultimate sharpness don't use any filters.
But if you do decide to use one then the you can buy the UV 0 filters used or the B+W are also good.
I think this test done over at lenstip.
I like these older ones too and they are still in good supply.
I also like the HMC NXT.
The new HD series, not so much.
YM 5519 SPB HW HD is indistructable but produce a streaky flare when shooting into the sun.
They are just a completely different filter it seems.
Even perhaps compared to Hama!
My advice is to avoid B+W UVs, they are expensive and perform worse than more affordable filters.

I looked at the lensrentals test results and found something else that might be misleading.
They state that Hoya rates the UV Https://aisebijou.ru/naruchnie-chasi-qampq/shtativ-dicom-tp-721.html that they tested at 99.
However, going to the hoya site, the product now states that UV C has only 97%.
So we might have further variations within what they label as UV C.
All things being equal, it would cost less to manufacture in the Philippines then in Japan.
However, this discussion leads me to believe they are also skimping on the manufacturing process that was proven by lenstip.
I'm sticking with UV 0made in Japan.
The main difference is that the UV C is a slim filter.
Hoya UV filters If the graph is accurate, I don't see what the UV C is really doing.
UV is supposed to be shorter than 400nm wavelength, and UV C is letting a lot of that through.

Yes but look at what the UV O is doing to the visible spectrum from 390-475.
UV C is not blocking as much UV from 350-390 but it is leaving the visible portion of the spectrum largely unattenuated, and extrapolating a bit doing a reasonable job on the UV from 275-350.
